Belgian software development firm Klarrio marks 10th Anniversary
Over the past decade, the company has grown from a “Saturday morning startup” into an international player with 100 employees

ANTWERP, 25 June 2026—Klarrio, a leading developer of Open Source software solutions, announces its 10th anniversary this month. Founded on June 6, 2016, the company has grown from a team of two into one of the largest Open Source Software data platform integrators in Belgium.
Today, Klarrio has nearly 100 employees in five different countries, including its headquarters in Antwerp, Belgium, and branch offices in the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, and the United States. Over the past 10 years the company has built customized cloud- and hybrid data-architecture solutions for a wide range of enterprises in diverse industries, such as telco, utilities, financial, mobility, and government.
"What makes this milestone exceptional is that Klarrio’s growth has been achieved 100% organically. The company has always operated independently without any form of external funding or influence", Kurt Jonckheer, Klarrio’s CEO, said.

From Saturday strategist to international player
Before launching Klarrio, the founders worked in an incubation program where they were charged with building a cloud-native Internet of Things (IoT) platform. When the program was discontinued, the pair would meet every Saturday morning to plan how they could scale their knowledge and experience and lay the groundwork for the new company. Today, Klarrio builds the underlying, strategic data foundations—the “plumbing”—for large enterprises, with security, scalability, and agnostic architectures as top priorities.
Jonckheer says much of the company’s success is due to its cloud-native technical expertise, its decade of experience, and its infrastructure-agnostic approach to software development. “In a market where companies have become heavily dependent on a few American tech giants, we help our customers regain full control over their own destiny and data,” Jonckheer said. “Everyone talks about data and cloud sovereignty now, but we’ve been advocating agnostic systems from the very beginning. We’ve always believed every organization should avoid vendor lock-in and own its own data, and the reasons why are clearer today than ever before.”
Exceptional expertise
Jonckheer also attributes Klarrio’s ongoing growth and success to its Open Source Software expertise in a niche where operational Open Source experience is the exception rather than the rule.
“Building a tailored Open-Source-based data architecture requires a combination of top-tier development skills in combination with deep operational experience in cloud and traditional IT environments. We offer both and manage the entire process under one roof, from design, to development, to on-site testing, to site reliability engineering, and beyond.”
Klarrio will continue to focus on growth and expansion over the next decade, not only within the Benelux, but throughout EMEA as well, Jonckheer confirms.
“Our ambition is to become the competence center for Open Source-based secure and scalable data platforms. And through our internal training academy—tutorrio—we’ll ensure our team continues to have the knowledge and skills they need to remain in the forefront of future IT advancements.”
